My 30-second life story

In 2020, my wife and I packed up our small Boston apartment and moved to her hometown of Austin, TX. In October of 2022, our daughter Josephine was born, and we’ve been tired (and elated) ever since. The road to get there was a winding one, but I wouldn’t change any of it…

Early work

I’m a Vermont native and University of Vermont grad; you may even find some of my old clippings as Sports Editor at The Vermont Cynic. After graduation, I spent a year interning and freelancing at Vermont Public Radio while working full-time as a manager / pizza-making extraordinaire at the greatest little pizza shop in Winooski, VT — Papa Frank’s Italian Restaurant. After a saving a few bucks, I made a sharp west turn towards San Diego, CA.

Moving across the country at the age of 23 was pretty humbling. I worked multiple jobs before finally getting my first writing gig for a small website development shop. Before long I was learning the basics of content management, developing and optimizing websites, SEO and UX writing, and before long I had my own group of writers to manage and edit. All while living in lovely SoCal. Not bad, right?

Agency work and client-side

After three years living in sunny San Diego, the East Coast called me back home and I moved to Boston, MA — a dream of mine ever since I was a kid with a deep love for Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, and the rest of the ’04 Boston Red Sox. And through a little hustle and a lot of luck, within a month I was working at one of the greatest agencies in the country, SapientNitro (now Publicis Sapient).

After learning more than I could dream of during my four years at Sapient, a good buddy and former colleague took over the dotcom UX team at Liberty Mutual. He sold me on an opportunity to help digitally transform a Fortune 100 company and help them elevate an up-and-coming brand. It didn’t happen overnight, but I’m so proud of the work we were able to accomplish at Liberty. You can learn a little more about it here.

Where I’m at today

In April of 2021 I joined Meta, starting as a Senior Content Designer before moving into a leadership / management role. Positioned on the Enterprise Products leadership team with 7 direct ICs reporting, I collaborated with XFN partners to deliver industry-standard internal products in highly-complex regulatory areas including privacy, supply chain, and revenue.

My team and I were impacted by the widespread layoffs that effected 23k+ employees. While this was of course disappointing in the moment, it’s provided me with the opportunity to refocus my efforts and bet on myself by taking on freelance work and opportunities.

I’d love to chat with you and learn more about the customer challenges you’re hoping to solve through content design. You can get in touch using the form below. Looking forward to connecting!

Testimonials from my peers

“Jason is up there as one of the best managers I’ve had in my 20-year career. Kindness, clarity & calm are three words that describe his management style. Jason shines at performance management as well – and this is something pretty rare – he was excellent at demystifying the complexity of promotion and breaking it down into achievable steps and goals.”

— Sabina Fernandez, former IC report

“Jason is an excellent manager, leader, and an even better person. Managing our fledgling supply chain content design team, he created and fostered a close-knit dynamic, despite wildly different timezones. And whether he’s helping our team navigate uncertainty or providing necessary feedback on our technical work, he always makes us feel supported.”

— Greg Healy, former IC report
